Joseph graduated from Adelaide Law School with Honours in 2010. He then worked in civil litigation and corporate insolvency before being appointed Associate to the Honourable Justice Michael David of the Supreme Court of South Australia.

Joseph has extensive experience in criminal law, having practised as a solicitor for 13 years first at a leading firm in Adelaide, and a then as a partner at Shaw & Henderson, a firm he established in 2016 with his then business partner, Rachael Shaw. Whilst a partner of Shaw & Henderson, Joseph acted for, and appeared as counsel, at both trial and appellate proceedings. He and his partner Rachael were repeatedly recognised as Leading and Pre-Eminent South Australian solicitors in criminal law.

Joseph joined the Independent Bar in 2024 and accepts briefs in a broad range of practice areas with a particular focus on criminal, traffic and disciplinary law.

He has appeared as counsel in trial and appellate proceedings, both led, and unled in the Supreme, District and Magistrates Courts of South Australia. He also appears regularly in the South Australian Civil & Administrative Tribunal and the Match Review Panel of the South Australian National Football League.
